We all know that technology has replaced everything we had before. At the past sending a telegram is likely not the first option that comes to mind. These technologies gave their purpose for a while, then evolved into cheaper, faster, better forms or simply disappeared. But other technologies--such as fax machines, landline phones, and cameras--just refuse to die, despite better digital alternatives. Let us discuss about some technologies that should be dead and vnished but still serving people.
1. The Telegraph:
‘Telegraph’ is a method of sending messages over along distances, using wires that carry electrical signals. This was recently introduced in the world of technology. It is one of the old technologies that should be dead but still remaining in the form of E-mails, instant messages, etc. As we know that email and internet is widely used that helps people connecting each other and send messages quickly. So telegraph method is still running in technology field.
2. Typewriters:
‘Typewriter’ is a machine that produces writing similar to print. It has keys that you press to make metals letters or signs hit a piece of paper through a strip of cloth covered with ink. It is also one of the oldest technologies introduced many hundreds of years ago. It has keypads like that of computer keyboard but, it has the metal alphabets, symbols, and numbers in it that hits the paper when letter is entered in the keypad. Today we have computer but still it is widely used in every field. It has one advantage over today computer that it does not need electricity and can be carried anywhere. So this machine is still living in the world of technology.
3. Fax Machines:
‘Fax machine’ is a machine that sends and receives documents in an electronic form along telephone wires and then prints them. It is also the other oldest machine. We may have seen fax machine in every cyber cafĂ© or in communication office, schools, colleges, other offices and companies. It is widely used. It looks like a telephone and has a part to enter a paper. We can send any information writing in a paper and fax it. When we forget to take documents in abroad then using fax we can get the print of it. Even if it is old technology but still it is far better helpful for us.
4. Landline Telephones:
‘Landline’ is a telephone connection that uses wires carried on poles or under the ground in contrast to a mobile phone or cell phone. Landline telephone is widely used every where in the world. The main connection from telecommunication office is taken and the poles near to the respective house having the main point of landline are connected. A long wire and a big telephone set are required. We can call STD, ISD and internet calls too. We can use internet facility with the landline phones connecting to the computer, what we called as Dial up connection. Today mobile has overruled the telephone, but still it is used in every field. Every houses, every school, office has landline phones. Today technology has supported landline and introduced the fastest internet facility called as ADSL, ADSN; etc. This internet connection can be only used in landline telephones. Due to this it is still running challenging the newly introduced cell phones.
5. Turntables:
‘Turntables’ is a round surface on a record player that we place the recording to be played. In other meaning, it is a large round surface that is able to move in a circle and onto which a railway or railroad engine is driven in order to turn it to go in opposite direction. But what we are talking about is the music player round table. Today many companies had introduced CDs and MP3s as a long-playing music player. We can listens music’s in mobiles, computers, I-pod, Mp3, etc. But still we can see in some places using turntables. As in church for playing opera and many other places. It does not require electricity to play music. These days, we can get a digital turntable that can be plug into PC and converts groove-laden tunes into digital files for carrying on our iPod, mp3, etc. So even if many things are changed but old is gold.
So as a conclusion we can say that even in the development of technologies, there exists some old machine that are still widely used all over the world an does not need to be replaced.
